20|20 Wins Retail Week Interiors Award
20|20 picked up the prize for Best UK Specialist Store Design of the Year at the Retail Week Interiors Awards 2010, held at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London. The award was for their concept and design work for Pets at Home on their flagship store in New Malden, Surrey.
The best of the retail design and shop fitting industry were recognised with a coveted Retail Week Interiors Award at the glamorous awards ceremony on Tuesday 28 September 2010. The awards showcased the tremendous efforts and achievements of inspired retail designers who consistently strive for excellence and innovation.
20|20 were up against extremely tough competition in a particularly strong category that contained no less that ten finalists. These included both Top Shop and New Look’s flagship stores on London’s Oxford Circus.
Managing Director Jim Thompson who accepted the award on the night said afterwards: “We are absolutely delighted to win this award. The New Malden store is a brilliant example of the power of building relationships between customers and the brand. Today this is a true definition of a destination store, where customers will go for much more than just the products, they go for the event, the experience and the enjoyment of shopping at Pets at Home.”
Retail Week’s John Ryan who was on the judging panel said: “Retail doesn’t come much more niche than a pet store and you might be inclined to think that there really wouldn’t be much point in creating too much of a fuss about the interior of a store of this kind – shoppers will come anyway. This Pets at Home store in New Malden, designed by 20|20, proves that this needn’t be the case, with features ranging from wooden trees to what look like in-store Wendy houses. It’s an interesting mix and one that has found favour with shoppers as well as, presumably, pets.”
The Awards proved to be a fantastic night, bringing together over 650 retail professionals, making it the biggest year in the history of the awards. Competition was fierce as entries this year exceeded expectations in terms of quality and quantity.
